Women in Analytics Updates on COVID-19

Women in Analytics Conference Postponed to Aug 19-21

Please stay tuned to this space for further updates.

Last Updated: 03/27/2020

The Women in Analytics team has been working hard to make appropriate adjustments to the conference in light of recent circumstances. Following extensive consultation with our event partners, we have made the decision to postpone the 2020 conference due to the spread of and health concerns associated with COVID-19. The conference was originally scheduled to take place on June 3rd to 5th in Columbus, OH.

The event will now be held on August 19th to 21st in the event space at the Hyatt Regency Columbus, our official conference hotel.

We have been closely monitoring updates and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as our state and local governments. Due to the increasing number of travel advisories, infections, and restrictions on large gatherings, we have concluded that it is inadvisable to host the 2020 WIA Conference this June.

While we are disappointed to delay this event, our main concern is to guarantee the health and safety of all participants and ensure a high-quality conference experience for those in attendance. Our team is committed to delivering an incredible experience to all conference participants. In the meantime, we are working on a number of online initiatives to continue providing educational resources to our community. Our membership platform will be launching in the next month. More information to follow on this soon!

Our team will continue to carefully track the current situation and will always make decisions with the health and safety of our community at the forefront.

COVID-19 Statement:

We’ve been closely following the news and meeting about COVID-19 and the impact it is having around the world.

As the virus continues to spread, the safety and well-being of our conference team, speakers, sponsors, and attendees remain our primary focus.

We know there are questions about what this means for those who are traveling. We are working through this in real time, as the situation quickly evolves, and will provide updates as they become available.

Here are our current guidelines for the Women in Analytics Conference:

We recommend you purchase travel insurance that will cover the cost of your flight in case you would need to cancel. We have altered our ticket refund policy to accommodate the current situation.

Anyone who has recently traveled throughout Asia or Europe and is experiencing flu-like symptoms should consult a doctor.

In general, anyone who has symptoms of acute respiratory illness (100° F/37.8° C or greater using an oral thermometer) should contact their doctor and get permission to travel. Before traveling you should show no signs of a fever and have had no other symptoms for at least 24 hours without the use of fever- reducing or other symptom-altering medicines (e.g. cough suppressants).

If you are concerned about the virus, you can visit the CDC and World Health Organization websites for the latest information about the virus, its prevention and treatment, what to do if you are sick, answers to frequently asked questions and more.

If you have further questions about the conference, please reach out to the WIA team at info@womeninanalytics.com

Sincerely,

The WIA Team
